NEW DELHI: In the second wave of Covid-19 this year, the older population continues to be more vulnerable whereas only a marginal increase has been recorded in the number of younger people testing positive for coronavirus, said Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) director-general, Dr Balram Bhargava on Monday.

Nearly six months after the peak of the first wave in September 2020, coronavirus cases in India once again started rising from the first week of March signalling the arrival of the second wave of the pandemic in the country. Doing an analysis of the first and the second wave of Covid-19 that hit India in 2020 and 2021 respectively, the ICMR DG said that there is no major shift in the way different age groups have been affected by Covid-19 in the two waves
