AIM: To prepare a temporary mount of a leaf peel to show its stomata

PROCEDURE:

1. Peel off the leaf from its under surface and put the peel in a watch glass containing water to keep the leaf hydrated.
2. Add a few drops of safranin (staining agent) into the watch glass.
3. After staining put the stained leaf peel on a clean glass slide and remove the excess staiin and water with the help of a filter paper.
4. Put a drop of glycerine over the peel and gently put the coverslip to avoid any bubbles.
