Following are the differences between nitrification and denitrification :
1. The process by which ammonia is converted into nitrates and then it is converted into nitrites is called nitrification whereas the process by which soil ' s nitrates are reduced to release nitogen in atmosphere is called denitrification.
2. Nitrification involves oxidation reaction whereas denitrification involves reduction reaction.
3. Nitrification involves nitrifiers which are more sensitive to environmental stresses whereas denitrification involves denitrifiers which are less reactive to environmental stresses.
