Individual problem is a problem that faces a single individual in a given society for example, failing an examination is an individual problem it cant affect other community in any  way while social problem is a problem that faces the whole society as a whole for example lack of rainfall in a given society will not affect a selected individuals but it will affect the whole society.

The differences are as follows:

  • Individual problem include one or two persons only
  • Social problems include problems of the whole society
  • Individual problems are private
  • Social problems are public
  • Individual problems are to be sought by the particular individual only and it is not of public interest
  • Social problems are to be sought by the government or community leaders and they are of public interest.

Hope it helps you
