Upanishads and Vedas are two terms that are often confused as one and the same thing. ... In fact Upanishads are parts of Vedas. Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva are the four Vedas. A Veda is divided into four parts, namely, Samhita, Brahmana, Aranyaka and Upanishad.

Similarities between Vedas and Upanishads. Vedas and Upanishads are similar in the same manner that you and your arm is similar. Upanishads are part of the bigger body of Vedas. Therefore an Upanishad can be a Veda, but a Veda cannot be an Upanishad.
