Write differences between (ASI) a) autotrophic nutrition - heterotrophic nutrition c) Light reaction - dark reaction b) Ingestion - digestion d) Chlorophyll - chloroplast
Answers
Answer:
a) Autotrophic means producing own nutrients where as in Heterotrophic nutrition, organisms depend on autotrophs for nutrients.
b) Ingestion means taking in food while Digestion means extracting nutrients from food.
c) A light reaction occurs by absorption of sunlight to produce ATP ans a Dark reaction produces Glucose from ATP.
d)Chlorophyll is the photosynthetic pigment and chloroplast is the organelle which contains chlorophyll.
Explanation:
a) In an Autotrophic Nutrition, the organisms are capable of producing their own food material by utilising the natural sources like carbon, sunlight, water etc. An autotrophic organism store the food material in form of starch. In Heterotrophic nutrition, the organisms depend on autotrophs for food as thery can't produce by their own. Heterotrophic organisms feed on stored food of autotrophs. Example : Plants are Autotrophic and Insects are Heterotrophic. Insects depend on plant juices for survival.
b) The food we take has to be grinded partially by our teeth and has to be swallowed by pushing that into the food pipe of Oesophagus. This process of Swallowing is called Ingestion. After ingestion, the food enters into digestive system which is a system of organs like oesophagus, stomach, intestines. During this Digestion, many digestive enzymes releases from the organs to metabolize and breakdown the food inorder to release nutrients.
c) Photosynthetic process in plants can be explained by two reactions of Light reaction and Dark reaction. In light reaction sunlight, oxygen, and water are absorbed by the plant and these elements undergo reaction to produce ATP and NADH as end products. Light reaction occurs in the Presence of light. Following the light reaction, Dark reaction occurs even in absence of light. Dark reaction converts the ATP and NADH produced in light reaction into Glucose.
d) Chlorophyll is a photosynthetic pigment which is responsible for Absorption of Sunlight. Chlorophyll is a Green colour Pigment. It plays the most important role by absorbing light. Chloroplast is a double membrane organelle which contains chlorophyll. Chloroplast contains packs of chlorophyll which can be called as Thylakoid and the space between thylakoid is called stroma where the chemical reactions takes place.
