Balanced forces - When two forces of equal magnitude but acting in opposite directions on an object simultaneously they the object continues to be in its state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line. Such forces acting on the body said to form a system of Balanced force

Example : When you push a wall with a force neither you nor the wall moves. The wall applies an equal amount of force in the opposite direction. This is an example of Balanced force.

Unbalanced force - When two forces of unequal magnitude act in opposite direction on an object simultaneously then the object moves in the direction of the larger forces. Such forces acting on the body are said to form a system of unbalanced forces.

Example : suppose that one of the teams in tug-of-war pulls harder than the other team. The forces would no longer be equal. The team with larger force would be able to pull the tug.

Force :-

It may be defined as a push or pull which changes or tends to change state of rest or uniform motion or direction of motion of a body.

Balanced Force :-

  • If the resultant of several forces acting on a body is zero , the forces are said to be 'Balanced forces '.
  • Example :- A ball is moving over a horizontal smooth surface with constant velocity.

Unbalanced Force :-

  • If the resultant of the several forces acting on a body is not zero, the forces are said to be ' unbalanced forces '.
  • Example :- When we stop pedalling a bicycle, it began to slow. The road has cracks. The bicycle has to overcome these imperfections, which slow down it. Forces which slow down the moving object in this way are called forces of friction.
