The suitable instruments are as follows -

  • The diameter of a log can be easily measured by any kind of measuring tape. (The total length of the measuring tape should be greater than the diameter of the log in order to easily do the measurement works.)
  • The surface area of a curtain can be indirectly measured by a measuring tape. Firstly, we have to measure the length and the breadth of the curtain by the measuring tape. By multiplying the values of the length and breadth of that curtain we can easily get the surface area value.
  • The time of the day can be easily measured by any kind of clock which is showing nearly perfect time.
  • We can use graduated cylinder to measure the volume of small sea shell, by the method of water displacement. If the density of the object is known then we can also measure the mass (by any physical balance) of the object in order to find the volume of that object by other mathematical calculations.
