The main problems that current day farmers find themselves fighting with are
- small and fragmented land holdings,
- scarcity of capital and
- inadequate supply and facilities and its high cost.
Explanation:
- Fragmented lands are one of the biggest problems to Morden day farmers and agriculture economics. To simplify the concept understand that the amount of population on India is large and some of the fertile plains such as
- West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh are densely packed. Due to this the amount of land per person is less,
- hence the crop is less and thus a non-viable crop is produced from such lands because such small lands do not have the capital for resources.
- The scarcity of capital and bank loans is also one the most terrible positions for an Indian farmer.
- As we know that crops are a seasonal process and take a long time to ripe and has a lot of risks involved in it. However, loans do not cover for such risks thus plunging the farmers into more debt in care of failing crops. This is one of the major reasons for suicidal farmers In India.
