• In poem "The Brook" by Alfred Lord Tennyson , the river is personified in the line "I chatter over stony ways" by giving it a human quality of chattering .
• In poem "The Road not taken" by "Robert Frost" , the road is personified to have human desires in the line "Because it was grassy and wanted wear" .

Epigram : This figure of speech is used to represent an idea in a satirical way .

For example :

• "I can resist everything except temptations" , by Oscar Wilde .
• " Live simply , so that others may simply live." , by Mother Teresa .

Alliteration : It is that figure of speech in which a letter or sound is repeatedly used to create a special effect in the poetry .

For example :

• Water went wild . Here the letter W is repeated thrice.
• She sells sea shells on the sea shore . Here the letter s and sound sh is repeated creating a tongue twister effect .
