Jorhat Sarbajanik Sabha was the first political association formed in Assam state of India. The Jorhat Sarbajanik Sabha was founded in 1884 at Jorhat, Assam. It was an initiative of famous Assamese tea-planter Jagannath Barua. The purpose of the Jorhat Sarbajanik Sabha was to represent the wishes and aspirations of the people to the British Government.
