Annual price distribution report :--
School days are so wonderful; more so if it is the Annual Prize Day. The Annual Prize Day is one of the most significant days in school. It is a day to make myself proud in front of the gazing eyes of a large audience, friends, parents and relatives. It is also a day to cherish both for being a prize winner and a well wisher for my class mates. At my school the annual prize distribution was a day of honour where our mettle was tested.
This year the Annual Prize Day was held on the 21st March 2013. It was scheduled to be held in the school auditorium. Our school has a large auditorium that can accommodate up to five hundred people. A lot of hard work was put in by my teachers and batch mates in organizing this auspicious event. This year a play named 'The Bishop's Candlesticks' was enacted by the class eleven students followed by a concert by the primary section. Students were then called on stage to be rewarded with some great prizes for excellent academic performance. Someone was also going to be declared the student of the year as well.
I entered the school auditorium with my parents in full school uniform that was starched and well ironed. Fortunately we got seats that were right in front of the dais. The hall was packed with parents, guardians and dignitaries. The stage was decorated beautifully with the backdrop of our school. The occasion kick started with a great welcome speech by our Principal, Mr. Jason. He also welcomed the chief minister of the state who was also the chief guest for the occasion. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp. Then Mr. Popular of the school, Mirchand, got the audience going with the programme announcements.
The play started in a moment. It was really fantastic. We were glued to our seats for a whole one and a half hour. This was followed by the concert by the primary school students, who looked so colourful in their props and costumes. The concert was great and we all applauded them for their marvelous effort. Then the prize distribution ceremony began. It started with prize distribution for the junior classes and then continued with the senior classes. Students who had excelled in academics received certificates and books as prizes. Then suddenly my name was called out. I was thrilled. I got three prizes for excellent grades, general proficiency and co-curricular activities. It was an honour to receive these from the chief minister. I felt so proud and so did my parents. My principal shook hands with me and patted me on the back. My photograph was taken too.
The prize distribution came to an end with the chief minister delivering a very inspiring speech. My English teacher then presented the delegates and dignitaries with beautiful souvenirs. The school anthem was sung with great enthusiasm and fervour. I returned home very happy and excited. This was also one of the most memorable days of my life.
