characteristics of XYLEM :-

>> it consists four parts - tracheids, vessels, xylem fibres and xylem parenchyma.
>> the cells in xylem have thick walls and almost all cells are dead.
>> tracheids and vessels are the tubular structures, they help to transport water and minerals vertically.
>> xylem parenchyma stores food and help in the conduction of water.
>> xylem fibres provide support.

characteristics of PHLOEM :-

>> it also consists four parts - sieve tubes, companion cells, phloem fibres and phloem parenchyma.
>> sieve tubes are tubular cells and have perforated walls.
>> materials can move in both directions here.
>> phloem transport food from leaves to other parts if the plant except phloem fibres.
>> cells in phloem are living cells.
