Given :

  • weight of NaOH = 4g
  • volume of solution = 100ml

To find : concentration of solution

  • in g/L
  • in mol/L

Formula used :

  • concentration in g/L = weight of NaOH ÷ volume of solution (in L)
  • concentration in mol/L (molarity) = number of mole of NaOH ÷ volume of solution (in L)
  • number of mole = weight of NaOH ÷ molar mass of NaOH

Solution :

1) concentration in g/L = 4g ÷ (100/1000)

concentration in g/L = 40g/L

2) concentration in mol/L

number of mole = 4 ÷ 40 { molar mass of NaOH = 40g/mol}

number of mole = 0.1

molarity = number of mole ÷ volume of solution (in L)

molarity = 0.1 ÷ (100/1000)

molarity = 1 mol/L

ANSWER : concentration of solution

  • in g/L = 40g/L
  • in mol/L = 1 mol/L
