write down the consequences of the following conditions.
(a) A cell containing higher water concentration than the surrounding medium.
(b) A cell having low water concentration than the surrounding medium.
(c) A cell having equal water concentration to its surrounding medium.

Answer:

1)the cell will loose the extra water( shrink up ) and make the concentration of water same in both the side

2) the cell will gain water to make the water concentration equal in both outside and inside ( swell up )

3) then there will be no activity by the cell ( no action) as the concentration of water is same as outside

all the gaining or loosing od water is done through process know as OSMOSIS

*osmosis - The movement of water across the  plasma membrane is also affected by the amount  of substance dissolved in water. Thus, osmosis  is the passage of water from a region of high  water concentration through a selectively  permeable membrane to a region of low water  concentration till equilibrium is reached .
