Molecular Compounds :

They are also known as covalent compounds. They are formed by the combination of the non metals only.

A molecular compound involves only covalent bonds.

The melting point of the molecular Compounds is lower than the ionic compounds.

Molecular Compounds are bad conductor of electricity.

Example -

 CH_{4}

Ionic Compounds :

Ionic compounds are formed by the combination of metals and non metals.

An ionic compound involves the ionic bonds usually but sometimes it involves covalent bonds also.

Their melting point is higher than the molecular Compounds.

They are conductors of electricity , when they are in molten state or in the form of aqueous solutions.

Example - NaCl
