They form acidic compounds

They are not generally good conductors or heat or electricity

They are not very malleable or ductile

Examples are carbon,oxygen ,nitrogen

Note : the above mentioned differences are general differences ,so keep in mind that there are always exceptions .Take the case of diamond ,which is a non metal ,

Yet it is the hardest substance on earth (naturally occurring )
