Answer:
There is a lot of difference in the views about women if we compare it to the views held by people 175 years ago.
With time the spread of education, awareness among people, womens movements, development in peoples thinking, all these have contributed to the change in women's status from a traditional women restricted within the boundaries of house to a modern, and independent women.
I have heard the people discussing the following :
Discussion between my my aunt and uncle :
Uncle : Ashmita is 4 now. We should start looking for a good school for her.
Aunty: Lets not waste so much money on Ashmita's education we are already paying so high fees for Rohit. What is the use of her education, because in the end she has to get married and look after the family. Uncle : No, education is important. Gender doesnt define the future of women. I want Ashmita to become a doctor and show the world that women are no less than men. They have the same capabilities as men.
I have also heard many people talking about equality between men and women in all the spheres of life like, responsibility towards family, working outside home, education, participation in politics, etc.
From all the arguments that I herd i drew the following conclusions :
Status of women has changed a lot from the traditional family rearing women to a women who has now steped out of the family boundaries to show her talents to the world.
She is now receiving education, and counted as an equally important member of the society.
The traditional social evils related to women like sati system has been eliminated.
