K+ (atomic number 19) = 2,8,8 as it loses one electron
Cl- (atomic number 17) = 2,8,8 as it gain one electron

K+ is 2, 8, 8, (1-1)

= 2, 8 , 8
(one electron is less in N from protons)

Cl- is 2, 8, (7+1)

= 2, 8, 8
(one extra electron in M shell)
