Hey,
Thanks for asking this question.

The total force experienced by a changed particle moving in a region where both electric and magnetic fields are present,is called Lorentz force.

A charge q in an electric field E→ experiences the electric force,
Fe→= qE→

This force acts in the direction of field E→ and is independent of the velocity of the charge.

The magnetic force experienced by the charge q moving with velocity v→ in the magnetic field B→ is given by

Fm−→ = q(v→×B→)

This force acts perpendicular to the plane of B→ and depends on the velocity v→ of the charge.

The total force, or the Lorentz force, experienced by the charge q due to both electric and magnetic field is given by

F→= Fe→+ Fm→
or
F→= q( E→+ v→× B→).

Hope this answer helps you.

Explanation:

Lorentz force, the force exerted on a charged particle q moving with velocity v through an electric field E and magnetic field B. The entire electromagnetic force F on the charged particle is called the Lorentz force (after the Dutch physicist Hendrik A. Lorentz) and is given by F = qE + qv × B.16
