Karl Marx believed in collective production of commodities and societal control over resources, means of production and ownership of labour.

He considered capitalistic society as the main source of unemployment and socio-economic inequality. He criticised private ownership of land and profit-minded ideology catering to various problems.

In collective production, resources and means of production are pooled together for sufficing needs not for surplus production. The amount of income provided to individual is decided by farm administration based on his performance as well as kind of work allocated to him.

The extraordinary skills and performance are rewarded in cash or kind. The disintegration of USSR and emergence of capitalism in Western world with success made government of various socialists countries to adopt various changes in economy in favour capitalism.

In early phases of Indian independence, our development projects and economics policies were greatly influenced by socialist ideology. At that time nationalist leaders had consensus over this principles.

Hence Karl Marx has played an important role in deciding fate of countries. There was long drawn ideological war between USSR and USA on how society would be organised.
