The characteristics of particulate nature of matter are -

• There are some spaces between the atoms and every matter remains in these spaces. These intermolecular spaces in solids, liquids, and gases are distinct.

• The particles of matter tend to move on and on. It implies that all the time, particles are in a state of motion.

• The attraction between these particles is inter-molecular. This implies that between the particles of matter there is inter-molecular force of attraction which holds and binds them together.
