Power set=2^n where n is no of elements.
A={a,b}
Power= 2^2=4
So subsets = phi,{a},{b},{a,b}

priyan22894: What is the difference between power set and subset with examples
KhushiMidha: subset is the different sets of the element and power set is the no of subsets

There are four members.

That's is 2^{2} =4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

The power set of the following sets A={a,b}

A power set if the set of all possible subsets of the original set (including the empty set, and the original set itself).

The fact that one of the set elements is itself a set doesn’t matter. We could equally have a set defined as {Mark, red, 7, hippo}. [It might not be useful, but it’s a valid set.]

So, The Power sets of A={a,b} is,

  • {}
  • {a}
  • {b}
  • {a,b}

There are four members.

That's is 2^{2} =4

A power sets of (a set containing) N elements in general contains 2^{N}.
