Data is transferred in the form of data packets and is convenient to resend if some parts of the data is left unsent

like....

to transfer 1 mb data we can use 256 kb data packets

1(256), 2(256), 3(256), 4(256)

if 2 packets wasn't able to sent, all the other will be sent and the 2nd one will be resent and arranged afterwards when will reach the target user.
