Water purification is a process which involves removal of unwanted ions and dust particles which are present in either organic or inorganic forms. This process also includes de-ionization. Clean drinking water is one of the main purposes of water purification. The purification process reduces contaminants and other organic and inorganic ions and different type of bacteria, fungi and algae present in the water. Water purification is carried out on scales from large (e.g. for a whole city) to small (e.g. for individual households).
