Social reformers played a major role in cleansing the Indian society of caste-based discrimination. Reformers include:
Guru Gobind Singh Ji fought against casteism and promoted universal brotherhood among mankind.
Dayanand Saraswati Founder of Arya Samaj and fought against many social evils in the name of religion, caste, etc.
Raja Ram Mohan Roy founded the Brahmo Samaj and crusaded a long war against social evils like Sati system, child marriage, casteism etc.
Swami Vivekananda He strongly emphasized to eliminate the caste system. He walked and lived with low caste people and strongly motivated to empower and respect them. He strongly believed in the brotherhood of all citizens.
Mahatma Gandhi strongly opposed untouchability and promoted equality and brotherhood.
