Merits of democracy:-
1) It safeguards the social, economic and political interests of the individual.
2) It assures equality in all social, economical and political rights of all the citizens.
3) It improves the quality of decision making as decisions are taken by following procedures.

Demerits of democracy:-
1) Leaders keep on changing which leads to instability.
2) If a bill has to be passed it passes through both the houses and everyone has to be consulted which results in delaying.
3) Citizens don't know what is right for them leads to bad decisions.
