drawbacks of newland's law of octaves:-
1) this classification did not work with heavies elements i.e those lying beyond calcium .as more and more elements were discovered, they could not be fitted into newland's octaves.

2) newland adjusted two elements cobalt (Co) and nickel (No) in the same slot and these were in they were placed in the same column as fluorine and bromine which have different properties than these elements.

Hey there !!

▶ Newlands' law of Octaves :-

→ Newland found that every eighth element had properties similar to that of the first. He compared these to the octaves found in music. Therefore, he called it is the ‘ Law of Octaves’. It is known as ‘ Newlands'law of octaves ’ .

 \bf \underline{ \implies Limitations \: of \: Newlands' \: law \: of \: Octaves .}

→ Law of Octaves only applicable upto calcium and after calcium every 8th did not possess properties similar to that of the first.

→ At the time of Newlands' only 56 elements were existed in nature and Newlands'assume that no more elements will be discovered the future.

→ But, later on , several new elements were discovered, whose properties did not fit into the law of octaves.

→ One important demerit of Newlands' law that he adjusted two elements in the same slot such as Cobalt and nickel [ Co and Ni ] .

→ With the discovery of noble gases the law of octaves become irrelevant.

→ Newlands'law of Octaves worked well with lighter elements only.

✔✔ Hence, it is solved ✅✅.
