magnesium= 2,8.2 as we know that magnesium has 2 electrons in its outermost shell therefore its valency is 2.
sulphate also has valency 2
when the form the bond they both loose 2 electrons which cancel out each other.
therefore it becomes mgso4

Mg SO4
2 ↗↖ 2
Mg2(SO4)2➡ MgSO4

hope it helps you.
