The union education ministry wants high school students under the central board of secondary education (CBSE) to share their ideas on how to convert the ideas of self-reliance into a reality.
It has given 10 themes ranging from supremacy of constitutions to importance of duties as a citizen while exercising rights, from environment conservation to making of a new India through agricultural prosperity for them to write.
A CBSE notification says students should submit their essays by 14 August midnight in the Mygov portal, an online platform to crowd-source ideas.
“The themes designed in the essay will help students to explore their ideas for translating the concept of ‘Atmanirbhar’ or self-reliance into an achievable one,’ the CBSE notification says.
Among themes, it asks students write on issues like ‘Indian constitution and democracy are the biggest enablers’, ‘India at 75: A nation marching towards Atmanirbhar Bharat’, Digital India for Atmanirbhar Bharat: Opportunities on Covid-19 and beyond, ‘How can schoolchildren contribute to national development’, 'overcoming gender caste and ethnic biases', making of a new India through biodiversity and agricultural prosperity, and ‘While I exercise my rights, I must not forget to undertake my duties to usher in an Atmanirbhar Bharat'.

Students play a very important role in the development of the country. We, in the future, could take up professions that would benefit the national economy and give service to our society and country. The purpose of education should not to be earning money but the main purpose of education should be able to provide service to one’s own country and society. Students could also make the illiterate people aware about the meaning of education and what can education bring about. There is a huge importance which is supposed to be given for education
To begin with, India can improve its literacy rate with the help of children. The children can help those in need by teaching them at least to read and write their own mother tongue. This helps in improving the education system of the country. However for this reason, the government has introduced strict laws for this. It has implemented that every child till the age of fourteen has to receive free and compulsory education.
Then comes the pollution controlling. This is a place where the government spends a lot of time and money whereas there is a very simple solution to it. This is where we children come in to action. The children can start awareness programs to clean the environment and thus this saves the government’s time and money and helps it focus on other aspects of making India self-reliant.
The other aspect of making India self-reliant is by increasing the health rate of its citizens. The children must be taught about all the first aids in case someone is not feeling well or in case if someone is injured. In this way they can at least help the sick till the person is hospitalized or even maybe I they can cure them with their first aid knowledge.
