Features of black soil -
- Black soil is also called as Black Cotton soil as its color is black and it is good for cotton cultivation.
- Black soil is rich in calcium, potassium and magnesium but has poor nitrogen content.
- Crops like cotton, tobacco, chilly, oil seeds, jowar, ragi and maize grow well in it.
- Soil Texture: Black cotton soil (regur soil) is highly argillaceous i.e. clayey.
- It is deep and impermeable and thus has high water retention capacity.
