The Original Calcutta General Advertiser or Hicki's Bengal Gazette was an English weekly newspaper in Kolkata, the capital of British India, then in Calcutta. This was the first newspaper that was printed in Asia and it was published two years before the East India Company confiscated the printing press and newspaper forms.
