Aurangzeb 'Alamgir', meaning "conqueror of the world" and the last of the Great Mughals, ruled for 49 years, the same as Akbar. His rule witnessed many revolts, the most powerful being of the Rajputs, the Sikhs and the Marathas. Aurangzeb's reign led to the decline of the empire and also the decline of art, literature and architecture.
