★ Laterite Soils:

→ They are well develop in hills of Deccan Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa and parts of Assam and Meghalaya.

→ Formed as a result of leaching process.

→ They lack in fertility and normally of low value for crop production.

→ They are red in colour and composed of little clay and much gravel of sandstone

→ Red laterite soil are more suitable for crops like cashew nut.
