Laterite Soils:

They are well develop in hills of Deccan Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa and parts of Assam and Meghalaya.

Formed as a result of leaching process.

They lack in fertility and normally of low value for crop production.

They are red in colour and composed of little clay and much gravel of sandstone

Red laterite soil are more suitable for crops like cashew nut.
