The Gray langur, also called the Hanuman langur or Hanuman monkey, is a genus of Old World monkeys native to the Indian subcontinent. Traditionally only one species Semnopithecus entellus was recognized, but since about 2001, additional species have been recognized. Langur, general name given to numerous species of Asian monkeys belonging to the subfamily Colobinae. The term is often restricted to nearly two dozen species of leaf monkeys but is also applied to various other members of the subfamily.

They usually live in small groups of between 2 and 10 individuals. They mainly eat leaves, as well as some fruit. Langur spend most of their time in trees. They have white fur and black faces. They are considered sacred animals therefore the "National social mammal of India".
