Statement of question:

The monthly incomes of A and B are in the ratio 4:5 their expenses are in the ratio 5:6. If A saves 25 per month and B saves 50 per month what are their respective income ?

Answer:

Income of A = 400

Income of B = 500

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

Income of A = 4x

And

Income of B = 5x

Similarly suppose

Expenses of A = 5y

Expenses of B = 6y

Save of A = 25

WE know that

Save = income - expenses

So putting values for A we get

25 = 4x - 5y .......(1)

Similarly for B we get

50 = 5x - 6y  ......(2)

Multiplying equation (1) with 5 and equation (2) with 4 on both sides we get

125 = 20x - 25y   ...(3)

200 = 20x - 24y  ....(4)

Subtracting Equation (3) from (4) we get

75 = y

So

Putting y = 75 in equation (1) we get

25 = 4x -5(75)

4x = 25 + 375 = 400

x = 100

So

Income of A = 4x = 400

And

Income of B = 5x = 500

Checking

Expense of A = 5y = 5(75) = 375

Saving of A = income of A - expenses of A = 400 - 375 = 25

Expense of B = 6y = 6(75) = 450

Saving of B = income of B - expenses of B = 500 - 450 = 50
