Semipermeable membrane

  • It permits entry of only one solvent.
  • It doesn't exist within the biological word e.g. cellphane, collodion.

Selectively permeable membrane

  • It permits entry of both solvents and to a selected extent solutes.
  • Almost all biological membranes are selectively permeable
