i)aluminum

aluminum foil is used as wrapping material for food. it's powder is used in paints, such as silver paint.

ii) copper

it is particularly useful for cooking vessels and also used in the form of wiring by the electrical industry.

iii) iron

it can be easily magnetised and is widely used in magnets.

iv) magnesium

being so light, magnesium alloys are widely used for aircraft parts.

in powder form, it is used in flares and fireworks.

uses of non-metals are:

i)oxygen

animals and plant alike need to breathe the oxygen in the air in order to remain alive.

it helps in combustion.

ii) nitrogen

nitrogen is essential to life in plants and animals.

nitrogen compounds are used as drugs.

iii) sulphur

by itself, sulphur is used for hardening or vulcanising rubber for tyres.

it is also used in making gunpowder, matches, paper and insecticide sprays.

iv) hydrogen

it is used to inflate balloons.

some of the most powerful rocket engines use liquid hydrogen as fuel.
