Tooth decay a start when the PH of the mouth is lower than 5.5 tooth enamelmade up of calcium phosphate is the hardest substance in the body this is because the acid is strong enough to attack the enamel of our teeth and corrode it. This start tooth decay. It does not dissolve in in water but it corroded when the PH in the mouth produce acid by degradation of sugar and food particles remaining in the mouth after eating the acid is strong enough to attack the enamel of our teeth and corrode it.
