C4H8O2 = CH3COOC2H5
we have a functional group called Ester (--COO) which is joined in the middle
and for naming we have to join --oate
in the suffix
which means CH3COOC2H5 = BUTANOATE ( 4 carbon = but )

H--C--C--O--C--C--H

sanskartrivedi1: IT WILL BE BUTANOATE FOR SURE
thrisha78: no it is butanone
sanskartrivedi1: no it's not ketone
sanskartrivedi1: ketone is -CO and it is -COO
thrisha78: its ketone u can check in Google also
sanskartrivedi1: I m a 12th standard student and functional group doesn't end with 5 there are more than about 37 functional group -COO is Ester -CO is ketone
thrisha78: butanoate functional group is what
