India is a great country with abundant natural resources; unfortunately these natural resources are poorly managed by its people and the Government. Monsoon is a very unique resource gifted by mother nature. In the past when the forests along the banks of rivers, valleys, mountain slopes had not been cut, the rains did not cause much destruction and excess of water flowed in rivers to the oceans. The forests contained the might of power of excess water.
Even in the current times, the monsoon water can be managed by constructing huge rain water storage facilities. For example big canals can be constructed and linked to rivers that can carry excess of flooded rivers to areas where rain fall is scanty. For example, rivers Brahamputra, Ganga, Yamuna, Narmada, etc. can be linked to huge artificial canals into which the excess of water flow can be directed to areas such as Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujrat, M.P. Haryana, etc.
If India remains drowned during monsoon, it is the inefficiency of our Government and poor resource management.
