Peninsular Plateau:

  • The plateau gets its name from its peninsular orientation as it is covered by coasts on three sides.
  • This plateau forms the southern half of the Indian subcontinent.
  • It is more popularly known as 'Deccan Plateau'.
  • It is surrounded by the Western Ghats on the west, the Eastern Ghats on the east, the Vindhya mountain range in the north, and the southern coastal tip of India in the south.
  • This plateau looks roughly triangular in its topography.
