Dear diary ,

Today we observed Rabindra jayanti in our classroom after the school. We , the students of class X only did it separately after our school had observed it last week because only a few of us got chance there. The class platform was used as our stage. Most of us took part in it. Several of us recited Tagore's poems though with books. We garlanded the photo of Tagore. I did a brief mime. Only three of us could sing. We all enjoyed the function. No teacher was there among us. We ate alu-kabli, chocolates, after the function in the class.

Rabindra Jayanti is the day which marks the birth anniversary of the great scholar, novelist and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. It is celebrated throughout the country on the 25th day of the month of Baisakh. Accordingly, May 9 was the date for commemorating the 157th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore in our school. The event was celebrated in three phases.

The Primary Section inaugurated the celebration with a bouquet of songs, dances, speeches and a drama composed by Tagore. The ISC Section paid homage to Tagore through a beautiful collage on Tagore which was inaugurated by the chairman of our school, B Jha. The celebrations continued in the form of recital of English and Bengali versions of Tagore's poems from the Gitanjali collection, which was followed by "Riturongo", which was a beautiful rendition of the seasons through recitation, songs and dances from Tagore's compositions.
