Indian King Porus was not able to defeat Alexender the great but gave him a tough fight which impressed Alexender so much that not only he spared Porus's life but made him the plenipotentiary satrap of the paurav territory.
After the war of hydaspes morale of mecedonian forces depleted to such an extent that the forces refused to go further. The mecedonian army after going through the Battle of hydaspes feared the huge army of Nanda empire of magadha. This stopped Alexender from going on further quest. He decided to go back to mecedonia.
On his way back he fell extremely sick and eventually died of unknown sickness in Babylon.
