The landslide took place on September 18, 1948 due to heavy rains. Over 500 people died in the landslide and according to the reports, the landslide buried an entire village.At least 10 people died in land and mudslides in Assam's capital Guwahati on Wednesday night following heavy rains in the city and its outskirts, Kamrup (Metropolitan) District Magistrate A K Absar Hazarika said.
