# ALGAE :-

Algae means "sea weeds". They are most primitive, photosynthetic, thalloid and eukaryotic organisms.

→ They live in both marine ( red and brown algae ) as well as fresh water ( green algae ).

→ Some algae grows in very special environmental conditions like on ice and snow, on the surface of other plants and animals etc.

→ A layer of mucilage is present which protects them from dessication when expose to air.

→ They reproduce by vegetative, asexual and sexual methods.

→ They are of three types namely red algae, brown algae and green algae.

* For difference between red, brown and green algae - see in attachment.
