Miss Anne Sullivan was Helen’s teacher and mentor. She came in her life when she was just seven years old. She was sent by the Perkins Institute for blind. The day of arrival of Miss Sullivan is the most important for Helen as she opened the gate of information to her. She guided Helen through all phases of her life. Helen experience many parts of nature with her. Miss Sullivan taught her to communicate by spelling the words on her hand. Miss Sullivan was herself a partially sighted and understood all the difficulties faced by a blind person. She was adorable woman and had a great patience. She also her subjects like Arithmetic, History, Geography, Zoology etc. in playful manner. She also helped Helen in learning speaking. Together they spent a lot of good times.

Hope it helps....

Miss Sullivan was Helen's life-long companion and teacher. It is difácult to imagine Helen without her great teacher. it was she who taught her words, sentences and speech. She was an extremely patient and hard working woman. She went with Helen everywhere. At every school she spelled into her hand whatever the teacher said. It is not an easy task. Even at college she attended classes with Helen and spelled the lectures into her hand as rapidly as possible. As very few books required in the various course were printed for blind, in raised alphabets, she had to labour hard. Her hands would never tire. She was a selâess supporter. She rarely went on leave and stood by Helen like a solid rock. When Helen was charged with Plagiarism, it was she who investigated to the matter and told the world that how Helen had committed a mistake unknowingly. She always encouraged her to go ahead and achieve her dreams
