\mathfrak{\pink{Hybridization}}

Hybridization is a phenomenon of intermixing of atomic orbitals of almost equal energy.. to form Hybridized orbitals!

\mathfrak{\green{Hybridization \: in\: \mathbf{\red{NH_{3}}}}}

➡The chemical name of NH3 is Ammonia

➡Ammonia is formed by one nitrogen and 3 hydrogen atoms

➡In NH3, Nitrogen is the central atom..So, hybridization takes place in nitrogen

Let us know the EC of the both atoms

________________

_{7}N - 1s² 2s² 2px¹ 2py¹ 2pz¹

_{1}H - 1s¹

________________

➡ There are three unpaired electrons in Nitrogen atom.. in the three Orbitals (2P )

➡ Here, 2s and 2P orbitals undergoes Sp³ hybridization and forms 4 Sp³ hybridized orbitals

Among 4, One orbital is completely filled. So, only 3 orbitals participates in bonding

➡ There is only one unpaired electron in Hydrogen

➡ Hence, three Hydrogens are required for bonding with Nitrogen

➡ The three Hydrogens, make bond with the nitrogen.. and the bonds formed are, three

\sigma Sp³-s bonds

➡ Due, to the lone pair-bond pair repulsion bond angle decreases to

107°31'

➡ Ammonia molecule has the Triagonal pyramidal shape
