Banana, like any fruits, is a mix of complex and simple sugars. And
as the fruit ripens the content of simple sugars increases. It’s a
misconception that banana should not be consumed while one is
suffering from cold as it aggrevates it. Nutritionists say that it can be
consumed at any point of time. If there’s a prolonged cold after
consuming banana, then it’s an individual problem. It’s also believed
that due to its high iron content, bananas are good for anaemic people.
In reality, however, this fruit has a very low iron content.
It is advisable to consume one banana a day along with food
items. Depending on an individual’s biological and physical conditions,
the quantity can be increased. Banana should be eaten atleast half an
hour prior to a meal. This serves two purposes it helps in combating
acidity and also makes one satiated. As a result, one doesn’t end up
overeating during mealtime. This goes a long way in checking one’s
weight.
