General Characteristics of Class Mammalia: 1. These animals are warm blooded, hairy and have mammary or milk producing glands, (mammary glands). They are the only animals which nourish their young ones with milk.

1-mamalia includes the animals have mamery glands (milk producing glands)

for the nourishment of young ones.

2-these are omnipresent.

3:mostly teristrial, some are aquatic and few are aerial and arboreal.

4:Limbs are the organs of locomotion and used for walking, flying, climbing, burrowing, swimming etc.

5:body is differentiated into head, neck,

trunk and tail.

6:these are homiotherms.

7:Exosketon in the form of hair, fur, nails, hooves, horns etc.

e. g. bat, ratmacca(monkey),camel,

whale, human being, dog, cat, elephas (elephant), equus (horse), pteropus(flying fox).

Oviparus-Ornithrorhynchus(platypus)

Viviparus -Macropus (Kangaroo).
